Fluidigm was founded as Mycometrix Corporation in 1999. The company’s core technology was developed by Stephen Quake at the California Institute of Technology.

In 2004, Fluidigm Corporation received a USD 21 million financing led by EDB Investments Ptd Ltd. (EDBI), and Invus, LP. These funds will primarily be used to expand interantional sales, marketing and support.
