On 1 July 2008, Applera Corporation separated its Celera Group from the company’s remaining business by means of a redemption of each outstanding share of Applera Corporation and the name of Applera Corporation was changed to Applied Biosystems Inc. to reflect the business of the company following the separation.
The company is part of Life Technologies (NASDAQ: LIFE), which resulted from the merger of Invitrogen Corporation and Applied Biosystems Inc, in November of 2008.
