Ohmx Corporation

Electronic biosensor-based products for biological testing for the in vitro diagnostics, food safety and bioterrorism industries

Ohmx’s technology was pioneered by Dr. Harry Gray, Ohmx scientific advisory board member and current professor at the California Institute of Technology, and Dr. Thomas Meade, Founder and Chairman of the Ohmx Board. This research provided a new way to electronically detect a wide variety of targets such as proteins, biomarkers, bacteria, viruses and mold. Ohmx began initial operations in January 2005.

Ohmx’s detection technology is based on binding-induced specific energy level changes and subsequent electrical current generation from reporter metal tags that are immobilised on electrodes of an electronic biochip. These biochips consist of an array of electronically active gold electrodes, used to simultaneously detect different pathogens within one sample. The sensor’s transduction is electrochemical and is based on the differences in reversible oxidation/reduction reaction of these metal tags when they bind specifically to protein targets.
