Aurora Photonics

Boost the commercialisation of microarray and biochip technology by providing high quality, rugged and affordable reading devices perfect for field use, for all tiers of the academic and commercial community.

Aurora Photonics was founded in 2005 to develop and market patented, laser based microarray readers for molecular profiling in genomic and proteomic applications. Our proven technology to read biochips is faster, more affordable and expandable to meet the changing needs of our customers to penetrate previously untapped markets in the point of care, small to medium size research community and commercial environment.

The reader is designed as a rugged, high quality, portable device useable in virtually any setting. It supports many platforms based on the conventional 1” x 3” glass or polymer slide format, including wet (flow cell - micro fluidic cards), dry nucleic acid, protein or other suitable probe based planar arrays and 3 dimensional gel based arrays.

The patented illumination system and CCD based imaging utilize low energy (<5 mW) lasers to provide extremely uniform array illumination in conjunction with rapid data acquisition in a few seconds for a whole biochip. In addition, with our unique temperature controlled slide support, users can perform and monitor real-time thermal dissociation reactions (ramping from 5- 75°C) as they develop.
