In 1997, Amersham Biosciences (formerly APBiotech) was formed from the merger between Amersham Life Sciences and Pharmacia Biotech.

In 1998, Molecular Dynamics, Inc. was acquired. It followed the acquisitions of Praelux and Dan-Process A/S. In 2002, Amersham took a controlling stake in the Cimarron informatics company and in July 2002, Amersham acquired Motorola Life Sciences’ CodeLink™ business.

In November 2002, Amersham Biosciences acquired the exclusive worldwide rights to sell certain 3-dimensional microarray array slides from SurModics. The slides are sold as CodeLink™ Activated Slides.

Amersham Pharmacia is now part of GE Healthcare.
