BD™ Oxygen Biosensor System

The detection system is adaptable to a wide variety of custom cell-based drug discovery applications. As oxygen is consumed, the biosensor fluoresces, providing a signal that can be directly correlated to cell growth. BD™ Oxygen Biosensor Systems are ideal for primary and secondary screens and for measuring viability, toxicity and antibiotic resistance. The proprietary biosensor is available in 96 and 384-well formats. The system is an oxygen sensitive fluorescent compound (tris 1,7-diphenyl-1,10 phenanthroline ruthenium (II) chloride) embedded in a gas permeable and hydrophobic matrix permanently attached to the bottom of a multiwell plate.
