Gene expression profiling using microarray technology


Illumina was founded in April 1998 by John Stuelpnagel and Mark Cheek. The company’s core technology was developed by Stuelpnagel at Tufts University.

In April 2005, Illumina announced the acquisition of Cyvera Corporation whose microbead assay technology platform provides a robust detection method for many applications.

Illumina is offering products for genotyping and gene expression profiling, including Oligator® oligonucleotide manufacturing and BeadArray™ platform technologies.

BeadArray™ technology supports SNP genotyping, gene expression profiling and proteomics and includes the microarray platforms Sentrix® Array Matrix and the Sentrix BeadChip. The Sentrix BeadChips are designed for low to medium sample throughput or dense whole-genome applications.
