Dr. Emil von Behring founded Behringwerke in Marburg, Germany in 1904 for the development of of vaccines and serums. In 1949 Dr. John Elliott founded Dade Reagents Company for reagents for typing and grouping blood. In 1997 Dade International and Behring Diagnostics merged to form Dade Behring.
