The Genetics Computer Group (GCG), Oxford Molecular, MSI, and Synopsys joined together on 1 June 2001 to form the company Accelrys, which is a wholly-owned software subsidiary of Pharmacopeia Inc. On 11 May 2004, Pharmacopeia split into two companies according to its two subsidiaries. The software company will remain as Accelrys Inc.
