Metrigenix

Microarrays, genomics, fluidics

Metrigenix is a spin-off from Gene Logic and was established in 2001. Gene Logic still owns 54% of the company and markets the Flow-thru Chip both as custom and pre-fabricated gene-based screening array.

Investors of the new company include Oxford Bioscience Partners, Burrill Biotechnology Capital Fund, Infineon Ventures and GE Capital Equity.

The MGX™ 4D Array consist of a 3-dimensional silicon substrate with vertical channels (probe attachment) which allow fluid ( DNA sample) to flow through the chip. Labelled oligonucleotide probes are anchored on the inside surface of the channels. These probes hybridise to the expressed genes in the sample as it flows through the channel. Fluid flow is controlled by a pumping mechanism within the chip. The microarray allows researchers to carry out simple or multiplex determinations on a single array. Optical waveguiding allows the reliable quantification of signal intensities.
The system is suitable for measuring SNPs, nucleic acid fingerprints, gene and protein expression.
At present, arrays are available for proliferation, inflammation, lung cancer, breast cancer, apoptosis, colon cancer, neural degeneration, cell signaling and liver toxicity. Custom arrays are also offered. The latest array ist the MGX(TM) 4D Respiratory Virus Panel Array destined for research and study of markers related to major viral respiratory agents including influenza viruses, para influenza viruses, pneumoviruses, metapneumovirus, corona viruses, mumps virus and measles virus.
