The company started its business as the first sequencing company in Europe, accomodated within the University of Constance in 1990. To date GATC has sequenced more than 30 genomes for industry and academy. GATC Biotech, still based in Constance (Germany) and with a subsidiary in Cambridge (UK), is toady a leading provider of molecular biological services and innovative bioinformatics solutions for industry and academia worldwide. GATC is privately owned and has been profitable ever since its foundation in 1990. The company is ISO-certified (ISO 9001:2000).
