Oxonica Inc.
Development of encoded nanoparticles and use of this technology in diagnostics, life science applications and brand and document protection
In December 2005, Nanoplex was acquired by Oxonica, plc, a leading international nanotechnology group.
Nanoplex is a subsidiary of Surromed, a technology-based therapeutics company with expertise in biomarker-enabled drug discovery and development that was founded in 1997 by Dr. Natan, previous CTO at Surromed. Dr. Natan is the inventor of most of Nanoplex Technologies’ intellectual property.

Nanobarcodes Particles (NBCs) are encodeable, machine-readable, sub-micron sized striped metallic rods; individual NBCs are read by measuring the differential reflectivity between adjacent metal stripes within a single particle. A conventional optical microscope is sufficient for the analysis.
The spectral intensity of the company’s proprietary SERS-nanotags is linearly proportional to the number of particles. This allows them to be used for multiplexed analyte quantitation.
The encoded nanoparticles can be used for highly multiplexed bioassays, biodiagnostics as well as brand and document protection.
